I think Joe has the wrong image for this coin Gary. LOL It's a 1957-D Cent. It happens to all of us that have more than a few images on a server.

A few possibilities.

A light punch into a die or perhaps, die abrasion in the area around the mint mark.

Machine Doubling from the south, northward is what I see.

Lower split serif RPM and the punch was slightly weakly punched into the die. The 'weak' mintmark is no big deal. The RPM would make it a few dollars worth.
