Most of the Cheerios dollar likely ended up being spent and are buried now among all the other dollars, in circulation. I have been searching small dollars for years trying to find one to no avail, but you can identify a Cheerios dollar from the high relief of the Eagle's feathers. 5500 is such a low mintage. If you figure a few 1000+/- of the 5500 ended up in circulation, there may be just 10-20 in each state of the 50 states. You will have to get amazingly lucky.
There are supposedly, among the 5500 or so Cheerios dollars, some that did not have the high relief on the Eagle's feathers, and if they circulated, there is no way to tell that, as far as I've read. The only wat to get those non high relief Cheerios dollars certified is if they are in the orginal packaging.
If you do find one in circulation, definitely get it certified.

If you do find one in circulation, definitely get it certified. Where are you located when looking for these dollars? What states were the Cheerios cereal boxes with the coins distributed in? The Cheerios dollars without the enhanced tail feathers has a specific die marker on the obv. I believe they can be found without being in the original packaging. |

I have been getting mint wrapped rolls from my bank lately. Does anyone know if the mint sells unsold rolls to the treasury for circulation? I asked the tellers if anyone was cashing them in and they said that they were ordered. Thanks!  |

Interesting. I do not believe so, I cannot imagine them taking the loss. If I am correct, they could have been dumped them at another bank, floated around the system, and ended up in your bank's order. Of course, I could be wrong.  |

So someone paid a premium for them from the mint, found out a few years later they weren't worth anything but face value, then cashed them in. Someone lost money!

I have also gotten some labeled string and sons rolls as well, like the one at the top of my picture above. Got 4 rolls like that today in addition to 4 more rolls of OMW 2023 D Native American dollars. Sorry for hijacking the thread, it seemed a good fit.  |
