1996 D Lincoln One Cent Missing Reverse Copper Plating

HI and good day to all.1996 D penny. Coin looks mint or at least AU. Some DDO is noticeable in the date and on Liberty though am not sure. Reverse is with a big patch of missing copper plating. Wonder the missing copper plating is a minting error or altered. Will appreciate your opinions and thoughts.Thank you

Considering the ease of erasing the copper layer on zinc core cents ,I don't believe the authenticity can be 100% verified by just looking at the picture.

I see Split Plating. https://www.error-ref.com/split-plating/ Not sure if the missing copper plating on the reverse is from an error or PMD.
