It's been improperly cleaned, brushed, edges filed. Unless you can get it really cheap I would not buy it. You'd have more difficulty selling it someday with its problems. Check Vcoins, CNG Coins, ebay from a trusted dealer and other sites for a better one in my opinion, raw or graded.

I bought most of my ancient coins years ago 1980s-2010 when prices were lower. Here's mine, paid $19. Of course prices for everything were lower back then LOL.

@liv, the cleaning and brushing are most likely modern modifications, but the edge-filing could have been done early on in the life of this coin, as a method for harvesting small amounts of good silver, right?

If so, then I would propose that the edge-filing isn't a show stopper.

Could be edge filing was done while it was in circulation.

I would not let minimal brush marks or minor edge filing prevent a purchase
But a collectible really ought have some redeeming qualities !

In this case I see almost none .
VF ?
Seriously ?
I would hate to see a VG !

I would have to pass, especially after seeing livingwater's example.

Prices of classics have gone crazy in recent years.
Only one I bought recently was a Hadrian sestertius with a nice portrait but I still half regret it because of the price.

In that one you showed I would object more to the plastic box than to the coin condition. How can anyone pretend to judge strike in a coin worn and corroded?
