I have wondered this for a while, and the new 250k for the 250th quarters have me wondering again. Are privy marks on U.S. coins raised, incuse, or a mixture of both?
The impression that I had from the WWII 75th quarters was that the feature was incuse, sitting below the fields within that irregular outline.
That's a great question. Seems like either nobody knows or they're busy searching rolls. I'll check back in a few hours. I suspect it depends on the issue but the laziness of the US Mint is going to go with raised.
