The underlying characters seem to be larger than the date that was stamped over it. So that one re-punched number would not stand out. And on being re-punched the 188 moved a little up and left? Report this Post to the Staff

The 1 - looks moved slightly up and to the left The 8 looks like it was stamped over something bigger like a very large 0 - and moved slightly up and to the left The next 8 looks like it was stamped over a 5 or a 6 or an S - and moved slightly up and to the left The final 2 looks like it was stamped over am earlier 2 but moved quite a but up It's a strange one all right.
