What Is This Error Type? - Coin Community Forum

ANAcoincollector Valued Member United States 98 Posts	Posted Today 13H 14M ago Hey guys, I got this from the ANA Mini-Mint. This was likely made for a presentation, so I suspect the ANA staff made this error intentionally. It looks like an off-center token at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it looks like something else. The design itself isn't off center, but the design just disappears around the middle portion of the coin. The reverse is kind of warped and has a mirrored impression of the obverse (like a brockage maybe). Help would be appreciated, thanks! Root River Mint New Member United States 47 Posts	Posted Today 1H 50M ago HondoB has it right. The upper die has the coins on it, the lower is the camel die. A piece was struck and stayed on the lower die. A second blank, your piece, was laid partially on the brockage maker (struck coin still on the lower die) and struck. One side looks like an off center strike, the other side is an off center brockage strike. This most likely was made during a demonstration or during the summer seminar when the odd strikes usually come out. Presentation strikes are in Brass and are struck by the die maker, who is me.
