Interesting Find From Circulation

After searching hundreds of dime rolls and finding no 2009 D dimes, end up getting one in change at the Dollar store.

Silver 1952 Quarter!! I knew something was in my change by "that sound"! I didn't even know it had a mint mark until I snapped a quick pic:

when I first started dabbling in coin collecting I was in grades 6-8. by eighth grade I was keen on the mint marks as I was trying to assemble a LWC folder.. you know, the old blue whitman folders. back then (early 80s) finding an S-minted cent or nickel was kind of a big deal. finding one in circulation these days is kind of rare and it brings a bit of nostalgia with it.

i just returned to my place from the pet store with a load of kitty vittles & treats. I examined my change and found that they had given me this 1970-S jeffie:





not terribly old, not really valuable beyond face, but man does that ever bring back the memories...

i think I was given the world's cruddiest indian head nickel today, in my change from either the pet store or a gas station/convenience store:




i have my work cut out for me. I have to attempt to clean this thing. I'm pretty sure the date is 1919. I can see the second 1 & 9. it's hard to see, but I examined it with a magnifying glass under a strong light: the 9 is the easiest digit to see... the 1... well, I can rule out that it doesn't look like a 2, and since there was no '0' or '3' preceding this nickel's second 9 (ie, there was no 1909 or 1939), I conclude 1919, no mintmark.
