When it comes to double struck coins it's all about eye appeal. Even with the spot of corrosion I find this one to have well above average appeal and is quite different from most double struck coins. 1950 Lincoln Wheat cent mint error - doubled struck both strikes off center

That's really cool, TB! P.S. When I saw the title, I thought that it would be some noob posting a hammer job.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

That alignment is eye catching on those strikes, very nice example.

A beauty! Isn't that known as a saddle strike?

A saddle strike is a coin struck twice at the same time by two different adjacent dies. I'm not totally familiar with the set up from this era but just doesn't seem like a saddle strike from what I am seeing.

Thanks all! It's just different enough that it really caught my eye when I saw it. It's both the way the coins are aligned plus so often when both strikes are off center neither is near the 50% off zone.
