I could use some help with this one... what am I putting on the flip?

Shallow acid bath in petri dish?

Did you weigh it, if it was acid etched it would be lighter.

Jbuck, I'm leaning the same. The rim looks pretty normal.

JimmyD, I always forget to do that, I'll put it on the scale later.

I'll say PMD. The reverse looks like it was exposed to acid.

My first thought would be a thin split planchet after the strike.

I posted a similar coin for some comparative material to discuss.

So will the weight actually tell if a thin split planchet or if acid ate away at the reverse surface?

I'm going to have to go with petri dish acid bath, I think

JennyCents, it paints a fuller picture. It hasn't gotten much thinner for it to have peeled either.

This one is heavier than Tropicalbats' example but still under nominal.

Measured / Nominal:
Weight: 2.851g / 3.11g
Diameter: 19.006mm / 19.05mm
Thickness: 1.46mm / 1.55mm
