I have been collecting coins since 1975 when I was 11 years old. I have all kind of coins that I've collected over the years - and am just now able to get back into the hobby now that I am 62 and have extra income to spend.

My first task is to try to complete as much of the US Mint Sets and US Proof sets as I can. I have acquired most of my missing items from ebay thus far.

Should I stick with ebay - or does anyone suggest a specific coin dealer? Here in central Alabama I am not aware of any local dealers.

Also - is it worth trying to get the us mint sets back to 1947 or should I make my own sets?

Go all the way to the 1947 Mint Set; it's a must!
I'm working on these Mint Sets also. Working up, I'm stuck on 1959 for now.
I can't help you with a Local Coin shop as I don't live in your area, but be careful when shopping on ebay.

I would check out the coin shows. There are some dealers at my local show with a large selection of OGP mint sets.
