Is Machine Doubling even a thing on edge lettering? This kind of thing isn't in my wheelhouse, so I'll let the others chime in. If any member can answer my question, that would be great. I want to learn more about it.

I would imagine that Incuse Doubling on edge lettering should be the same as on any other incuse lettering.

I would be interested in knowing how the edge lettering is applied. Are they struck or is it made into the collar, and at what point are they put there if struck, before or after the coin itself is struck?

ADDED: This explains it somewhat, so it would appear to be after.
