commems CCF Master Historian of USA Commemoratives United States 12450 Posts	Posted Yesterday 08:23 am As I was pulling together a New Rochelle Historical Tidbits story, I came across several more advertisements from the New Rochelle Commemorative Coin Committee: 1936 New Rochelle, NY 250th Anniversary Half Dollar - Now Available Ad / April 21, 1937 1936 New Rochelle, NY 250th Anniversary Half Dollar - Christmas Ad / December 22, 1937 1936 New Rochelle, NY 250th Anniversary Half Dollar - Local Pride Ad / May 27, 1938 1936 New Rochelle, NY 250th Anniversary Half Dollar - Last Chance Ad / June 17, 1938 For context, the Philadelphia Mint struck the New Rochelle coins in April 1937 with a "1938" date. The June 1938 advertisement is certainly trying to put a happy face on the poor sales by connecting the 8,000 coins melted to an increased value for the remaining coins. Get it now!
