Merrimac Armour Plate Token Ex Fuld 498/499 Iron R8

just saw your post very nice example! That one looks almost rust free.
I havent sent it in to NCS yet I was waiting to get a couple more coins to send in at once too make the shipping more worth while, but I might just fold now and send it in.

The British spelling of armour is curious.

@jbuck ... Thanks for the reply. I recently happened upon this old thread that inexplicably ended without resolution. As the subject tokens, Merrimac issue, are among my personal favorites, I thought I'd see what happened with Xavier's piece.

Concerning this token's "armour" plate spelling, I've long suspected that the die sinker may have been of British origin. As for the holed specimens, I've never owned one. The three that I acquired over the years were all unholed. I suspect that the holed ones were created to ge worn on the purchaser's lapel; this, circa 1907.
