Quote: two weeks of gains gone in two hours... funny how stocks never do that. LoL what do you mean? I made a few hundred bucks today buying Puts on a stock that lost almost a months worth of gain's in 2 hours. Iren Ltd. Or go have a look at what happened to Marvell Technology today. PayPal stock lost two months worth of gain's today, go have a look. I could show you a hundred stocks that have done this. This happens every single day in the stock market.

Quote: Bla bla bla, jawboning by Warsh. Let them raise rates and bankrupt the Federal government. I believe it when I see it. That's true, raising rates triggers a chain reaction that ultimately leads to a death spiral in the U.S. Debt If there is no interest rate increase in September then Gold and Silver will skyrocket.

My money is on cooking the CPI. Strip out everything that goes up, place Americans on a virtual diet of dry bread and water....et voila. The CPI is now 2%.

I would be shocked if any administration raised Fed rate anywhere near an election with so many close races. Older voters are a huge demographic, and a shock to equity values can provoke a knee jerk reaction at the polls.

Gold and Silver both fell back to prior support levels over the weekend and in the overnight session and have rebounded slightly. Last I checked they were just about even from Fridays close. Oil started rising higher over the weekend not helping matters much.
I think the Market over reacted Friday and there is a chance we'll see a bounce today, or sideways action until the next reports are released this week.
Over the next three weeks we'll see a skew of economic reports for August that the Fed will use as a gauge for a rate hold or rate hike in September.
The 2 important ones this week are:
*Wednesday- we get the ADP National Employment Report.
*Friday- we get the August Employment Situation Report (Nonfarm Payrolls, Unemployment Rate, and Average Hourly Earnings).
I don't remember the exact numbers but I think the Market's are expecting to see around 60,000 job's added in Aug and unemployment rate of about 4.1 percent.
Remember that 'bad news is good news' for the metals.
So that means if less jobs were added and if the unemployment rate went up from the last month then the market will breathe a sigh of relief. Lesser odds of a hike.
If we get the opposite numbers then expect some more panic selling.

A lot of sideways chop today. Nothing to write home about, nothing really to complain about, either. It is what it is.

And, sadly, the night crew didn't do their job. Looks like we're back all the way down to the ~$64 zone.

All four major indexes as well as Gold and Silver are all down in the Red this morning. They all decided to dump around the same time overnight. There aren't any major headlines that I'm aware of and Dollar and Oil aren't doing anything unusual, so it's just the Market being fearful of an interest rate hike. There's a lot of individual little pieces of Data they'll have to look every day for the next couple of weeks, like pieces of a puzzle. This week is not only employment data on Wednesday, Friday, but there's also some manufacturing data sprinkled in today and Thursday. So expect it to get bumpy as each report is released and gets scrutinized by the market.
