Not a floating roof can still see it connected and remnants of the (fg) . My opinion not worth more than melt

The weak D is probably the result of die polishing which
caused the weak date.
Not really worth much over face value.

Good eye...
But, don't read too much into about what "some" people say...
The "No Roof" used to be a thing (early on)...but then it was discovered it was a very "common" thing because of the die polishing where it removed the pilers and the FG because clashes.
Stach him away so you can say you found "one" and keep searching!

The no roof thing is a fabricated value. These aren't really sought after.

So what exactly constitutes a 1969 D Memorial cent to be really designated as a No FG F.S. 901? I have a few that have no trace of the FG, No lines on the left or right connecting the roof to the Memorial. I have looked at several hundreds. I would almost think a full FG would be a variety LOL. 99% have a very weak FG or faint FG. I have only found 1 with a Full FG. |

"Floating Roof" is an ebay seller's gimmick and nothing more. Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Maybe 'somewhat' more than an ebay seller's gimmick, since I heard of this at least a decade before ebay was brought into existence. I'm not saying that makes a Cent collectible. Just sayin'. Edited by Vector Ze

Sure, it's caused by over polishing of the die, but so is the 1922 "No D/Weak D" variety and no one calls that a gimmick. As to value, consistent auction records of graded examples are available in the $150 +/- range, about 8 - 10 times the value of a similar non variety1969 D, so someone wants them . . . |
