With the exception of a few pretty obvious coins the aftermarket is a usually better. The problem is we don't know which ones those "others" will be. In this case so far it looks like you'll be in pretty good shape if you wait. The dime and flowing hair maybe a little tougher than the other 2. In my case I just wanted them and didn't want to risk it. The mint is going to get some extra money from me because of it. I generally don't sell coins so a small premium now hopefully will be offset in holding for a long time.
Then my kids will sell them for pennies on the dollar and I'll roll over in my grave but I had fun:)

Well, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that the set just arrived. The bad news is that the silver medal appears to have a slight "beauty mark" (a.k.a. ding) on the face of Lady Liberty on the obverse. It's not all that visible in hand, but clearly visible when magnified. I know a lot of you [Most of you? All of you?] would probably return the set to the Mint and try to get a replacement, but for now I'm just going to hold onto it. I'm not planning on having it graded and the mark does give it a certain charm...

Available again, and household limit removed. In case anyone wants to get a second, or third

Is the mint desperate to get rid of them?

I assumed it was just because the price of gold has dropped since the price of the set was initially set.

I see my set just shipped, guess this will likely be on sale for the rest of the year?

I'd personally get an exchange. Personally if I were paying $5k for that set it better be flawless.
