As a tour guide I quite often get Scottish, Channel Islands and Northern Irish notes. Some I get as tips, and others I exchange for English notes when I spot an American (or other non-British) tourist having trouble trying to spend one in a shop in England. Usually they are notes brought back from a previous vacation or, if the passengers are on a cruise, were received in change at a previous port call. I often deposit them in my bank, but I decided to keep this Bank of Ireland £20 - it's a new polymer one and makes a nice set with the £5 and £10 that I already have:
