A recent purchase that currently holds the record for most snakes on a coin I own. 4 total if I counted correctly. I've always thought this was a cool coin type, was glad to pick up a mid range example. 
Mysia, Pergamon, Ar Tetradrachm,85-76 BC.
O: Cista mystica within ivy wreath. Rev., ΔI and ΓΡY monogram above, ΠEΡ monogram to l., two serpents entwined around bow and bowcase, serpent-entwined thyrsos in r. field. Kleiner, Hoard 32; SNG France 1734-5. 12.5g, 27mm. Got any cool snaked up ancients? I would dig seeing them! |

I know, I know... Not an ancient (not even a medieval by most definitions other than CCF)   Moses' staff (at lower left) being turned into a snake as in Exodus 4. Papal States, Gregory XIII (1572-1585) teston. Muntoni 68. |

Nice examples. Those cistophoric tetradrahms are cool to have. Victor, wish I had one like yours. I like the one with Moses too. I have one ancient with snake, AE 16mm, island of Cos, Augustus bust, reverse has rod/snake of Asclepius, god of healing and club of Herakles I think. This is different than the caduceus with wings and two snakes.  Edited by livingwater

I thought that I had a Diocletian with Salus reverse; but realized I had sold my only example; so , thanks to this thread, I just bought this one.  Diocletian A.D. 290- 291 AE Antoninianus 21x24mm 3.4g IMP DIOCLETIANVS P AVG; radiate and cuirassed bust left with shield on left shoulder. SALVS AVGG; Salus standing right, feeding snake from patera. In ex. C RIC V Lugdunum --; Bastien supp 1 no. 396 |
