Today, on September 11, 2026, we mark the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the loss of thousands of lives. It was a defining day in United States ("US") history.

I remember sitting in my office and noticing the string of jets lined up to land at a nearby airport. I wasn't yet aware of what was going on in New York City (and elsewhere), but I figured something must be happening as the number of planes approaching was far above the norm.

I soon learned of the attack from a co-worker and was able to put the puzzle pieces together. It was my "I'll always remember when" experience.

The US Congress authorized, and the US Mint subsequently struck, a national commemorative medal:

2011 September 11, 2001 10th Anniversary Medal

I've previously posted about the medal:

- 2011 September 11th Tenth Anniversary

and

- 2011 September 11 Tenth Anniversary - Rant

I've also posted about several of the efforts in Congress to further recognize the attack and the heroic response to it:

- What If? 2001 September 11th - Circulating Half Dollar

- What If? 2001 / 2005 / 2006 Pentagon 9/11 Memorial

- What If? 2011 September 11 Tenth Anniversary

- Possible? 119th Congress #06 2027 September 11, 2001 25th Anniversary

(Please refrain from making this thread political. Let's focus on remembering and honoring the many sacrifices made that day in response to the attacks.)
