For the first time since 2008, the U.S. Mint is releasing fractional Gold Buffalos. Today, it was announced that on December 10, a $5 Gold Buffalo will go on sale. Given the continued popularity of the 2008 issue, I would not be surprised to see a quick sellout here. I did not see a finish specified, so I would assume that this coin is going to have an uncirculated finish, but wouldn't rule out a surprise considering the range of unannounced offerings the mint has given us this year.

I would love to have one, but I wouldn't be able to afford it.

now there's a new coin I would love to have, but chances are they will disappear fast and I probably won't have the cash for it anyway.

Looks like I will go back into the Mint site one more time, but by then gold could be near $5,000 an ounce?

This would be a handsome coin to own. Alas it's going to cost a lot.
