1853 Seated Liberty Quarter With No Arrows

I have an inherited collection, mostly 19th and early 20th Century US coins, and have sold about a dozen coins via ebay, and have had pretty good results, to the satisfaction of all parties. I have one coin, however, that, I think, is enough of a rarity that I wanted to solicit some advice before I do anything with it. It is an 1853 Seated Liberty quarter with No Arrows. This is not a particularly outstanding example - merely V/VG - but given how few of them apparently exist, I thought it merits a little special attention. I have a few questions for the community: If I wanted to sell it, what would be the best way of marketing/selling it? It is ungraded - is it worth the time and expense of getting it graded? Any thoughts, questions or comments are greatly appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff

ExoGuy Pillar of the Community United States 4432 Posts	Posted Today 37M ago The perceived value of this variety definitely makes it worth having iy authenticated by PCGS or NGC. That said, I'd advise taking the coin to a major show. Therein, you could could engage some knowing eyes on the coin solicit opinions as to its being genuine. This simple step could save you time and money relative to the authentication process. Indeed, should the coin then informally adjudged to be genuine, there may be a dealer at that show who could expedite submission to one of the two major TPG's. Lastly, my personal preference for a dealer to assess this coin is Larry Briggs. He literally "wrote the book" on Liberty Seated coins. He sets up shop at many major shows. BTW, to the CCF !!
