At the time of issue it had a very low face value (about half a British farthing) and it would seem an unlikely coin for modern Chinese forgers to copy. I'm going to attribute that (the almost-open-at-the-bottom 8 and malnourished 6) to whatever caused the somewhat uneven strike. The 1 is also missing its base, and the denticles down there have less definition than 180 degrees across the obverse, so (my opinion) something caused that side of the obverse, including the bottom of the 1 and 8, to not strike up fully.
