@col, it is always super-helpful to know the diameter and weight of pieces to be identified. Can you please provide that information on this piece? Thx.

I don't have it with me but as you can see in relation to the hand it is small, approximately between a quarter and half dollar.

Alexander the great tetradrachm, Late lifetime or early posthumous issue, 325-320 BC. Minted in Side, Pamphylia. Price Reference number 2949. I found this one which I think might be an obverse die match or atleast carved by the same hand: https://numismatics.org/collection/1944.100.33227

As for how genuine it is, it looks ok but I'm worried that those might be casting bubbles on the edge. If you get access to the coin again I would advise to take pictures of the edges. I'm leaning more towards genuine than not, but its better to be sure.

Thanks for the ID, I was looking at online apps to try to identify it. How would you grade it?

Probably XF. For next time I would suggest, rather than using any sort of app, to just google something like "ancient greek coin guy sitting" and look through the pictures untill you see a similar type, and then going from there. This will be way more beneficial to learning.

From others this looks like maybe a $900 coin or so. The certifieds seem to sell better but then you have a long wait with NGC. ICG and Anacs do ancients but they have less of a standing in the collecting community.
