daltonista Pillar of the Community United States 1078 Posts	Posted Yesterday 7:02 pm Some great pieces have been posted here since I last dropped by! The Wreath Crown is one of my 20th-century favorites...nice one, Rob! Continuing my auction prep, I came across a half dozen Evasions I'd entirely forgotten about, and here's one of the scarcer ones in that group. Remember, everything about these was spurious or misleading so they couldn't "technically" be considered counterfeits. As with Canada's blacksmith tokens, the condition of this piece is typical for the whole category of evasion tokens or imitation regal coppers. This halfpenny-sized -- but way underweight -- copper bears the imaginary likeness of Charles Fox, MP, on the obverse, paired with the North Wales crowned harp reverse. It's dated 1761, which was probably about four decades earlier than the year it was struck. Interestingly, the real Charles Fox, MP, turned 12 years old in 1761.
