1928 UK circulating coin set:
How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Ninth-Edition!
This was the first year that the halfpenny and penny used the smaller portrait of King George V on the obverse, finally putting an end to the problem of 'ghosting' that had bedevilled these coins since their first issue in 1911, even after the use of a modified, lower-relief portrait in 1926-7.

1928 was the year the Irish Free State issued its first coins since gaining independence from the UK. Designed by Percy Metcalfe, the coins showed farm animals and were a complete contrast from the British coins that had previously circulated in Ireland:

Love those circulating sets, Rob! The Irish animals are such iconic designs.
