I see a trace of wear on the obverse high points and some of the stars aren't fully struck. Detail-wise it looks solid for AU-55. I'm wondering whether the frost might be too good to be true. The halos of brightness around the stars strike me as unusual. Also, I hope your scale is off. The standard weight for this coin is 12.44 grams and in AU grade I would not expect it to weigh as little as 12.1 grams. That number makes me a bit suspicious. I'd love to find out what the grading services would say about this coin. Report this Post to the Staff

I just realized that because I tried several different items which I know their weights I've gotten screwy answers with no continuity out of the them all! Therefore, my wife is picking up a new scale on her way home. What brand or type to you guys typically use? The striking on the stars is very clean and crisp I would be very shocked if this was a reproduction. Especially knowing who I bought it from. I was on the high end of a new 55 or the low-end of MS 60 especially when you see it in person. It took me about a half-hour to calm myself down when I received it. Trust me, this one will be going to PCGS without hesitation. Report this Post to the Staff
