1963-D Cent. Something Wrong Here - Coin Community Forum

Quickstudy Valued Member United States 70 Posts	Posted 08/13/2006 4:44 pm I noticed it as soon as I took the coins out of the roll. They are all 1963D, but the collar is not shiny like most cents. When I run my finger along the collar, it feels grainy. It is also a very dull color, sometimes red, sometimes brown. Any idea what this is, what caused it, or what I am talking about? Thanks. I don't know if you can tell anything from the pictures. The texture just feels grainy, not really rough. Something interesting to me, on some the front is full red and the back is almost full brown. These coins were in the middle of the roll. Its probably nothing, just thought it was interesting. QS Report this Post to the Staff
Metalman Pillar of the Community United States 7123 Posts	Posted 08/13/2006 7:37 pm Hi Quickstudy What type of rolls were the coins in ? just from what I can see in the pic ,, these coins look like they may have a start on some corrosion, That red color is not the Red of a BU cent , but more the result of moisture and temp extremes .
