Question Swedish 1 öre, 1942, Dark Or Bright?

Tomten Valued Member Sweden 159 Posts	Posted 03/01/2011 07:37 am Hello there! I need some help in how to distinguishing the differences between dark and bright ironcoins. I know that my pictures might be a bit off with the colour compared to IRL but I think they should do. My question is if I've got a dark 1942 1 öre here or not.. I know there are forgeries around.. and being worn might make it look dark.. so I'd like some help. I also added a bright one for comparison. Bright one Dark one? Thanks.. Tomten Valued Member Sweden 159 Posts	Posted 03/01/2011 3:21 pm The darker coins really looks to be an authentic coin.. Which is "XR" in my 2010 swedish catalog, meaning there are around 5 known examples in private collections. Which makes the odds that this one would be real a bit low.. I've also read on other various forums that these have many fakes, done in many different ways. I also read that the darker iron is actually only a small "coating", so if worn it would bring forth the brighter iron like in the picture above.. Do anyone know anything about these?
