I got the same shipping notice for the toonies - still heard nothing about the loonies even though I ordered them at least a month earlier.

Someone mentioned that we will get our loonies once they have undergone the curing or aging process in their nice PVC holders...

It's a good thing we all ordered early from the Mint just so I get them in circulation first. I think a lot of people are disapointed. They are rotting in PVC as we wait.

This is starting to make me mad. I ordered my loonies in early october and my toonies on November 2nd. I haven't received anything yet. I've seen people selling them on ebay since they have come out. I've just found one of the loonies in my change. Every time I call they tell me that they will be shipping on a certain date and they keep pushing the date back another month. I usually by my coins at a store but decided to start using the mint. I've placed three orders so far and have had problems with every order. They haven't even charged my credit card yet and I had to renew it in November so that will probably cause more problems. When you buy something they should charge it immediately, not when they feel like it. The company that makes Canada's money should be professional and efficient. It feels like there's only one guy hammering coins in a garage. I really don't feel like buying anything from the mint again. Maybe the mints representative here could let me know what going on with this poor service. 3 problems on 3 orders within as many months is very poor in my opinion.

When you buy something they should charge it immediately, not when they feel like it. It is a common (and appropriately ethical) business practice to not charge a customer's credit card until an ordered item is shipped so as not to "tie up" the customer's funds due to a delay (of any type) that is not the customer's fault. If a merchant charged a credit card immediately but didn't ship an ordered product until weeks or months later, it would be like you are providing them with a short-term loan -- they can use your money immediately while you wait for the product. The RCM shouldn't be faulted for their credit card charging practices, they should be commended -- You only pay when you are sent your ordered product(s)! Just my thoughts...

Well I ordered while I had an extra $25. Same with the toonies the next month. When they decide to charge the $75 dollars I might not have that much extra money lying around which will inconvenience me. Also the fact that my card expired in November and I had to get a new one means that when they do charge it it will probably be declined. They might assume I'm trying to do something illegal and not process either order. More inconvience. I know this doesn't happen very often but clearly it can. The point is that I was already told that they would be shipped and I would have them soon 3 times which is very unprofessional.

When I first started collecting, I was given some rather good advice, it might be applicable here: "Remember that your coin collecting is a hobby, not one of life's necessities. Only spend money on coins when you can truly afford it -- never jeopardize your real financial commitments. If you stress over the money spent on coins, how can you enjoy your hobby and find relaxation in it?"

Good advice commems!
I will concede that when they take so song from the time you place the order to ship that it runs past the expiry date of the card you used to pay, that makes it inconvenient!
Outside of that, I am glad they they don't charge until the order is shipped.

I appreciate the words of wisdom. I am not new to the hobby though. I like to be in control of my money and when I say you can have this money now, I expect them to take it. It's the fact that I don't know when they will take it and therefore can't plan for it. I have a bi-weekly hobby budget and if I spend it this week and they charge me within a few days it will screw up my budget.

I received my toonies in the mail today. Of note, it looks like the packaging is mylar and not the pvc they used for past loonie releases.
