Thank you, Errers and Dearborn. I was supposed to receive three more Morgans today but the shipping envelope was torn open and the coins were gone.

That's terrible, GLB49. Hopefully you can somehow get them back, or a refund.

Fortunately my mail carrier is a good guy and I've known him for years. He noticed the torn shipping envelope and knocked on my door. When I came out he showed me the envelope and I recognized the ebay seller's name on the label. I told him that there were supposed to be three silver coins inside so he documented the missing coins. If he had not done that I would not have been able to prove that the coins were missing. BTW, the coins were 1902-O BU Morgans. @#&%!

I had a package arrive with the coin missing a month ago that was ripped open and sloppily rewrapped and delivered and signed for when I was away at work. I brought the package to the post office and they pulled the video up as it was received at the post office and we could clearly see the package was open when it reached my local post office. The employee printed out an in-house tracking intranet document which showed the weight of the package being about 5 oz when it was scanned at the airport and showed the weight of the package at the next scanning destination with a weight of zero. The package was then sent to my local post office and then to me. The seller reimbursed me and is filing a claim and since I still have the package and a copy of of the in-house intranet description of all scanning points the insurance will be paid off. If your package has tracking you can go to the post office and ask for such information. I hope this helps. There are steps one can take. You can show PPAL or the credit companies this report showing your package was empty with the report. Important to note, one still needs the package received to file the claim and have any chance of receiving any insurance amount with the post office..

Thank you for the information, DoctorBurnzy. In this situation the mail carrier alerted me about the torn shipping envelope and when I looked at it I saw that it was from an ebay seller. I told the carrier that there were three silver coins shipped in the envelope but they are gone. He documented everything on his hand held device and told me that the person that shipped the coin would be notified. I shouldn't have to do anything. The seller should go to the post office where he shipped the envelope and tell them that the envelope arrived empty and that was verified and documented by a USPS employee. The seller should file a claim and when he receives a refund he can send it to me through my PayPal account.
