All right, it's no big surprise considering my avatar and all, but... #1 - 1927 St. Gauden's $20 Gold Piece: My first gold coin and still my favorite. And now, as a bonus, my two favorite coins that aren't classics:

Good job with this post muddler, it turned out great with some really amazing coins. I really did not have a favorite classic coin, so last week I went out and purchased a coin I always wanted. There have been a couple like it posted, including a very nice example barryg posted this morning. 1927 St. Gauden $20 gold

These 12 days went way too fast. Muddler, thank you so much for not only the opportunity to show my favorites but even more for the chance to see all the other fantastic picks. So here is my #1. 1793 Wreath Cent - Sheldon S-10 . . R.4 And since I can't take it out to enjoy it on a daily basis, here's a screenshot of what I see when I boot up & power down my laptop.

My number one coin is an Early Commemorative. It's especially significant to me because of the event it commemorates...

my #1 - 1925 Stone Mountain Memorial Half Dollar And for those that haven't seen the Memorial, this is the carving that sales of the half dollar helped fund. BTW - its about 11 miles from my house.

Thank you muddler - this thread has been an eye opener for me! Looking through the multiple pages posted in the past day reminds me of the 'finale' at a 4th of July fireworks celebration - very exciting! jeffrose - your 1793 wreath cent is amazing! My avatar gives away my #1 - a 1787 Connecticut Colonial. I live in CT and the history of colonials is fascinating. When I received this coin I immediately broke it out of the PCGS holder as it's a keeper. Miller 33.39-s.1, PCGS VF20 Bowers URS-9 Sheldon R3-R4 She's not a pretty woman and looks a bit angry.

Due to time constraints with retrieving coins from storage and taking pics, I haven't been able to participate properly in this thread, but I just wanted to thank everyone and especially muddler for providing the most awesome two weeks of eye candy a collector could hope for. These are my #2 and #1 choices. They barely compare with some of the incredible specimens shown here previously. To everyone: May your holiday season be joyous, and your stockings jingle. #2: 1841 Seated Liberty dollar: #1: 1799 dollar, a 'Bolender 22' according to information received when it was posted awhile back. The inspiration for this coin being my top choice is not for its condition (average) nor its scarcity (relatively easy to obtain). I chose it because this is the coin that most inspired me to pursue my love affair with large early silver. Way back when I was in tenth grade or so, eagerly searching pocket change to fill those familiar blue whitman folders, a classmate brought a 1799 dollar to school and passed it around for everyone to admire. It was indescribably awesome for an impecunious teenager to hold such a majestic, early coin in the palm of his sweaty hand. Not until half a century later was I able to afford one of my own. The fact that this coin purchased raw on ebay turned out to be a 'B-22', with both my parents, who encouraged my coin collecting fascination from an early age, being born on the 22nd. day of their respective months, just adds to the magic and the charm of owning this fascinating coin that looks in the reverse photos like it could have been made from two separate coins fused together. It's going to be really tough to top this thread in terms of collector appeal! Well done, everyone!

I propose, after the first of the year, we descend upon the Modern Coin forum for a Top Ten Moderns thread.
