CrystalH, I'd love to chime in my $0.02 worth, but 1. I don't want to hijack your thread. 2. I can't think of any numismatic connection to my goal of making it to Antarctica on the cheap. (Anyone have a gig on a station resupply plane flying out of Christchurch, NZ?) I spent a week in Punta Arenas, Chile two years ago scoping out the possibilities. Turns out I was a few weeks early for the spring season of fly-ins or supply ships and couldn't hang around for much longer. The closest I got was puddle jumper flight to a small town on Navarino Island. (The most southernly "town" in the world.) Still, it's possible, and I totally want to do it.

Well, looks like I did both things that I didn't want to do...hijack the thread and get into what is probably one of my toughest personal goals.

harrison2 please free to tell us about it. I think this a great thread to share stories and goals in regards to adventures! Dont worry about hijacking my thread I'm just glad people took the time to read what I've put so far and to comment.

So please share

In regards to going cheap, the first year I went, the greyhound buses here had an amazing deal. Anywhere in Canada and a return trip for a total of $200. How could you beat that price? Yeah we spent a little more on food but we never stayed in a hotel. We were on the bus for about 7 days straight! Now after the third day we were pretty sick of the bus thing..very hard to sleep on. We met numerous people on the bus that we hung out with, ate with and just had a good time. We met a few weirdo's too...lol. But overall it was beautiful especially for that price. If you look around I'm sure you might be able to find something

Had a bit of fun with Google Maps, terrestrial photography.
Helps to put the rest of us in the picture.

crystalH: Got any street references that you would suggest where the terrestrial camera may be placed?
