A local auction house does a weekly consignment sale. I have picked up a few medals / coins from it over the years. More and more lots of marbles have been appearing. . .now I understand the background. Thanks for sharing, canudigit. Good luck with your collection.

Quote: The marble shown below came rolling out of yard sale jar I bought for $5 several years ago. My heart stopped when I saw it! Circa 1926 Peltier Golden Rebel with aventurine crystal sparkles and pristine. Most impressive! I still have all my marbles in a large jar. It may be time to give them a look over.

jbuck - if you decide to put your marbles in a yard sale let me know where and when. HA! All joking aside, some of my best marbles were found out in the wild from uneducated and disinterested people that thought they were just junk. The Golden Rebel above is by far not my most valuable marble BTW. Some really valuable types are not all that fancy looking. Again, I offer my knowledge and assistance should you want it. Just trying to pay it forward.

Doubt I will ever get rid of them, but I will put a note in the jar for my heirs to contact you. Quote: Again, I offer my knowledge and assistance should you want it. Just trying to pay it forward.

With coins... sports cards, domain names (many for future projects), and I am thinking about getting into other collectibles soon.

I've had these since the late fifties. I also have 50 to 60 cat's eye marbles but I'm not sure where they're at.

@Candigit, that shows the value of knowledge! Having no knowledge of marbles, I would have not known the value of your item should I have seen it.

My goodness, I had no idea that old marbles could have values like that. And very sad that world is getting flooded with fakes just like coins. Maybe the TPGs can start slabbing them (or maybe they already do...)
That said, I have a sack of marbles from my youth in the 70s, I oughta dig those out and see if I've got anything there.

These are not old (2002) but I bought them at a yard sale because they're in the original package.

I will sometimes pick up an old toy if it interests me. I think these cap guns may be from the late 50s or early 60s. I also collect real guns but I haven't been to the range in years.

When I emigrated to the US all I had with me was one suitcase full of clothes, my camera, my stamp album, some of my most treasured LPs, and about $100 in cash. LPs weigh a lot in quantity, so the best I could manage was to bring 15 LPs with me as a "carry on personal item". It broke my heart to give away my record collection. I bet your collection of coloured vinyl is really cool!

Winchester lever actions and Colt pistols. Sorry, no pics. Oh, and Swiss Vetterli rifles, although I haven't bought one in 30 years.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
