Well silver was always the start and then you guys say something then the next thing you know I'm interested in something else! Haha! darn it! I dont have much time nor money, but if I'm going to sort through quarter and dime rolls, I might as well watch out for other things as well. This is just a cheap way to maybe aquire some more silver and If I can find other key dates while looking through the rolls, then thats even better. Especially if they are of some value (anything is better than nothing) then I will sell to you fine folks or online and buy more pure silver with the proceeds. Haha, thats if it works out like that. I started stacking bullion as an investment and it turned into a full collection of mint sealed silver maple which I would have a hard time parting with. Thats a full set minus 2009, which you guys havent found for me yet! :-) I'm going to print off that list of things to watch for so I dont over look my next roll. I'm going to let my wife know what I'm doing tonight when she gets home. She's goign to think I'm wasting my time, and addicted, and shes not going to want to listen...sadness. I wish she was on board with me. I guess she'll be happier in the long run when its time to cash in. Well cash in whatever she makes me. I will def pass some down to my daughter. anyways rant over! Yeah finding silver and buy silver maples are the way too go! But maybe get some pennies and look through them for special varieties  |

darn it coincollect...now I have to research more crap! LOL. Lucky I've been and still unemployed for the last 2 months...i guess....if you wanna look at it as the glass half full. :-)

another good valuable quarter is the 1973 rcmp large bust.
The queens portrait is larger and the beads are closer to the rim of the coin.
Coinsandcanada website has pictures and prices of most of these.
Hopefully I haven't overloaded your mind with all these coins to watch for.

Im looking at the coin guide and am I reading it right ... the silver value far exceeds the numis value?

Well ..went through anouther 10 roll of quarters today..oldest one was 2004 and 20 rolls of dime....GOT MY FIRST 2 OFFICAL SILVER DIMES!! Found a 68 that didnt stick to the darn magnet and a centenial 1867-1967 ! YAYY me!

I guess you could say that. I suppose the silver value could be considered the numismatic value. And congrats on the silver dimes!  |

Went through 2 more rolls of quarters today and actually managed to find something older than 2000! Yayyy...still nothing though. Found one 1968 dime after going through 43 rolls. 1 is better than nothing. CHEERS!

with the dimes that I got, the teller had opened a box and took out the excess rolls. Now these rolls were shrink wrapped together and after opening 3 rolls of them...they were all 2011! :-( I have got these shrink wrapped coins in quarters before and they were recent years but different years. What's the scoop regarding these shrink wrapped coins? I know a lot of people here say that they pick up a box of coins but now I wonder if they are going to be all recent dates. How can I avoid this problem when picking up a mass quantity of rolls? Do I request only paper rolled coins? Any insight into your expertise would be greatly appreciated. CHEERS!

Hey Sam.. the shrink wrapped coins are mostly form the Mint them selves. I'm guessing you Deal with RBC sometimes other banks may have shrink wrapped like HSBC but when I go to TD all I get is customer rolls. Because that's all they deal with they never get rolls from the mint. If you are dealing with RBC you will have to ask for customer rolled coin. Dont say paper roller as you may also get rolls from Brinks and such in which you will only find years 2000 and up. So again just ask for customer rolls and you should be fine, the only problem you may face is that the bank doesn't have that many customer rolls available.

Yep, I deal with RBC. Got skunked with 40 rolls today. I was wondering if I should open a TD account just to be able to work it a bit better. There are areas of town that I cant pick rolls up from because my dump banks are there but if I add TD then I can use the branch in those particular locations. I got teased a lot today by my rolls of dimes. There were 6 rolls there that 30% of the roll or more was older than 82 but not past 68. I got excited on the first one and was ticked by that last one ! Thank-you for the info |
