I met the Mickelberg brothers Years ago when they were abalone divers working the Zoypdorp cliffs north of here.
They seemed like nice blokes

I'm almost embarrassed to confess this, but I watched it again. The story-telling was a bit slick, and it merged two stories. They were guilty of one crime (the "Yellow Rose of Texas"), which made them suspects for the later, larger fraud and theft. They deny any involvement in the later case, and half of the movie concerns their efforts to clear their names.

the "Yellow Rose of Texas" case justifies the description "dodgy", but the question remains, "how dodgy ?"

The Gold that was sent to the Police & Journo's is bizarre and doesn't make sense esp. the SA Gold, surely the person would know it would be tested.Lots of rumours at the time,Bondy was involved & set the Mickleberg's up,head policeman was salting his Kalgoorlie mine etc. Also stories that more "items" were going out the back door of the Perth Mint than the front.

Grant,how do you put quotes/edits in posts here?,i can't find the link.TIA
Rest in Peace
