one excuse I use at banks that is super effective:

Teller: "So, what is the purpose for all of these coins?"
Me: "just my weekly poker game I run."

I have never had a negative response using this. In fact, most of the time they get excited.

I tell them not to worry about what I am doing with the coins. I don't ask about their lives, they shouldn't ask about mine :p

I actually did this once, except the manager of the bank came up to me and asked "what's with all the dimes?" Usually I'm friendly and I tell them something to leave me alone, but this time I told her, "It's private."
For some reason this ticked her off, and she asked me over and over, and I kept giving the same response. So, now I just use the poker idea. Like I said, it usually gets a more positive response when they inquire about the coins.

Now Yeo has actual cause there to go above the branch managers head. In matters of money once you say its private and it is under, what is it?, $10,000 I think a bank manager should take from that that it is in fact private and not pester you.

P.S. this would be a great time to start writing lyrics for a country music song and see how awkward you can make the manager feel. I thinking it goes someting like this: I lost my job at the coal mine, family member sick, pickup truck broke down, dog ain't doing to good either, need to cash in the only thing my deceased family member left behind to pay for other sick family members medicine etc....
