I've enjoyed watching and now here's my first coin to post in this thread. It has no numismatic value, but perhaps some entertainment value.

This coin represents every type of damage I can imagine - scratches, dents, nicks, gouges, and it looks like someone tried to move the O mint mark to the date area.

cipster - I like it! I like coins that have been around and show some nice history on them. You can always imagine who's hands that coin may have been in before you got it. I have an 1861-O that has a hole through it, but more about that when we get to the 1861s. :)

cipster . . I like it too. If it was mine it would be my new pocket piece. Nice conversational item & what more damage could you do carrying it every day.

Moe-

Interesting bunch of apparently raised damaged on the 57s, with no obvious reverse indents.

Very interesting.. It's hard to tell but could it be solder? I had a Capped Bust half dollar some time ago that was similar and one explanation was that someone soldered it to a belt buckle.

could be solder, but that's usually on the reverse.

True. It does appear to be some solder. The '57 S had a minting of only 158,000 so I felt pretty lucky to even find this one! I liked the details otherwise and the price was right!

And... I think it adds mystery!
