My main coin guy puts an ad on Craigslist occasionally. The last one I saw he was at 16x on halves, qtrs, dimes and 18x on Morgan/Peace. He sells at melt for whatever he has in the 90% tray. He also has to hold for a certain amount of time as he is also a Pawn shop.

Quote: I emailed him telling him I had 1000 silver dollars to sell he told he could only buy 10 this week at $15 per LOL. I guess this falls under the category of not poking a sleeping bear but F it 15X is a bit ridiculous even to me. Another wannabe silver investor. I doubt he'll get much at 15x, but if he's only got $150 to invest, he doesn't need to get much.

Quote: That is probably close to what those traveling coin buying "road shows" pay when they set up shop in some local hotel looking to buy gold, silver, and coins, and then disappear into the night. It's not just the hotel buyers, here's your "top ten" mail-in buyers:
Company Name Site Buy/Dwt BBB Rating Yrs In Business
Cash-For-Your-Scrap-Gold.com $21.23 A+ 100
ExpressGoldCash.com $21.06 A+ 12
GoldFellow.com $18.51 A+ 11
Gold-Cash.com $14.16 B+ 2
SellYourGold.com $12.19 A- 2
GoldPal.com $10.78 NA 2
GoldStashforCash.com $8.67 A+ 19
GetGoldCash.com $8.01 NA 3

Great list of potential buyers, Fredd. Where did you get that info? Do these same companies also buy silver?

Local radio station has various "experts", and their gold buyer is the one who put together the list.

Well, it looks as if the "expert" was up to snuff that day. I know what you mean about a lot of them, though. I keep hearing about and from these so-called experts and most of them seem unable to come in out of the rain without help. Along this same line, have you watched the Discovery Channel show, "Doomsday Preppers"? Their prepper experts seem to know what they are doing with their advice but every time someone says that they are preparing for an economic collapse, Nat Geo breaks out the "... however, economists think that unlikely" line. Economists? Experts? Would those be the very same economists that were advising us to buy homes just as the housing market was collapsing, who advised us not to invest in gold or silver which then went up in value by 500% over the following 10 years, who completely missed the Internet bubble of 1999, and who are now telling us that "the US economy is recovering"? Sheesh, already! What a moronic group on which to base ones future personal and family well-being and very survival. I'm to the point of wondering if these guys EVER got anything right. They do fine at telling us what happened but aren't worth a hoot at telling us what is about to happen.

IMO, one of the most realistic "doomsday" scenarios is an economic collapse. And when these invisible "experts" poo poo the notion, it makes me a tad agitated. How many people watching have put off the idea of getting better prepared for an emergency because these economists who couldn't predict a coin flip if you spotted them both heads and tails said there was nothing to worry about? Why even include their opinion in the program? It seems a little extraneous, IMO. When people watch the reality TV program, Ghosthunters, do the experts come on at the end of the show each week and tell the audience there is no evidence for life after death? I very much doubt it.

Quote: Ed, I told my better half the EXACT same thing, almost verbatim. Great minds and all that! Quote: IMO, one of the most realistic "doomsday" scenarios is an economic collapse. I would agree with that. The signs of this economic train wreck are all around us. All we need do is OPEN our eyes and LOOK at the data. Unfortunately, this info is not very comfortable for most folks, so they would rather try the head in the sand approach instead. That way they can pretend that all is well. The MSM will confirm this for them too. :-/ Quote: How many people watching have put off the idea of getting better prepared for an emergency because these economists who couldn't predict a coin flip if you spotted them both heads and tails said there was nothing to worry about? I dunno, man, but if one were silly enough to listen to these guys perhaps they deserve what happens to them. Quote: When people watch the reality TV program, Ghosthunters, do the experts come on at the end of the show each week and tell the audience there is no evidence for life after death? That does bring up an interesting point. After considering this very issue for a number of years, it is my thought that there is no evidence that there isn't life after death either. Fact is, life and death issues are not matters of PROOF but of FAITH. In that realm, one either has faith or they do not.

Yeah, Hawk, and like a good novel, it is a LOT more fun to read about or watch than it is to live it!

You should have said...."Well, where is your gun?" And they would have been like.... "Huh?" "Well, if your gonna rob me, could you at least use a gun, its just proper protocol...."

Quote: "I picked a heck of a week to stop taking barbiturates." There's a line in the movie Independence Day where the crop duster says that about drinking. Good stuff. Don't sell yourself short, Hawk. Most of us prefer comfort when we can get it but when it comes time to kick booty and chew bubble gum, you'll KNOW what to do! As for myself, I have the AK, Mossy 500, and 3 handguns ready to rock-n-roll, if necessary.
