@ksimms3: Thanks for sharing your display! Very organize. Where do you buy the big box for multiple coins? And how much is it?

^^ I got this one off ebay for around 80$. Search for lighthouse coin boxes. Also if you have local dealers around they could maybe get you one for cheaper.

I don't have space to display coins, so I use this to store my collection, it has 24 small pouches that can hold up to 2x2s.

Coin_Chick's easels will make a set up like this much much easier. Too bad there's not enough space in the safe at the bank to do the same :)

My wife and I buy (not just directly from the RCM either) and sell so we can maintain the collection. The idea is to eventually make enough profit to cover for the cost of the coins we keep. That is taking a while but does justify somewhat the frequency and amount we spend on the collection. We started about... 2.5 years ago i'd say

@poboxw: so all the coins in display are "free"? that's a lot of work!

hmm... I guess if I unevenly distribute the profit we made to cover for what we have on hand, then yah, what is pictured here can all be consider "free". Awesome way to see it actually. The big but is that we did put in a lot of time selling, and we also bought into a lot of bullion (not pictured) at the peak of silver prices that we can't really afford to sell and are not really worth what we paid for them at today's prices. Fun hobby though, both the collecting and selling sides of it. We've met great people all over the country and some across the pond in the UK, and few more south of us in the States.

you can write off these expensive bullion by leaving them to your son:)
still a great achievement! my plan is to start selling when I retire

Poboxw You are doing better than I am. I keep buying multiples of coins so that I can attempt to do what you are doing amd sell them. Then I don't want to part with them. So I'm not bringing any money in. Just spending :( maybe in the future I will have lots to barder with :)

hehe, already doing that, Silverbug. My son's got quite the overpriced collection. But I can only fudge the books so much :)
@Coin_Chick: I'm the same, but my wife keeps me in check and I her. Having a money-pit of a baby son also prevents us from not selling when there's a chance to do so. When my lottery ticket cashes out though... muwahahaha~ ( <== evil laughter)
