As far back as the three piece bicentennial proof sets there were warning about being careful opening the sets because the capsules were loose and the coins could fall out. There were many cases of the 2006 sets arriving not only with the capsules loose but open and the coins bouncing around inside the case. Report this Post to the Staff
Bizybackson Pillar of the Community United States 1817 Posts	Posted 08/08/2012 12:00 pm It's not the packing itself, the capsules are normal, it's the outer boxes getting thrown around in transit, so anything in them will separate from the injection molded holder, especially the capsules. Especially prevalent with the '10 pucks and any of the special sets. The '11/'12 pucks have been wedged so tightly of late I don't really know what the condition of the obverse is. oih82w8 Pillar of the Community United States 7840 Posts	Posted 08/08/2012 12:11 pm What would be so difficult in placing a piece of foam inside the case to keep the coins in place during shipment? I have noticed this with the ones in my 2009 Lincoln Coin and Chronicles set. If I ignore them for a while, they will gain some play in them (although they never come completely loose; I can squeeze and feel them tighten up a little). I imagine this problem is only amplified by normal shipping and handling. basebal21 Bedrock of the Community 13014 Posts	Posted 08/08/2012 3:32 pm There seems to just kind of be a design flaw with the capsules. They do tend to self seperate over time well mine do anyway. Maybe some sort of side lock clip or a screw on would be better. Even if the just rubber banded it for shipping that should help. But I agree I don't understand why a piece of foam inside still hasn't been implemented when this is now their 3rd set Report this Post to the Staff
