We accept entries till 11:00 pm Eastern time. I can think of a gorgeous historical CONSTANTINOPOLIS that was entered in a previous Smackdown. Why did it not get entered this time? Show us your coins! -- Warren

Coin #2 OK. I wasn't sure if Constantinopols' were really historically specific enough but here is one from Cyzicus SMKA commemorating the founding of Constantinople as the new center of the Roman Empire by Constantine I. I think that Victory standing on the prow is also a reference to Constantine's victory at sea over Licinius at this time. 17mm, 3.0g Minted 330-335 AD You might recognize this particular coin?

Gold- JWarper SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS AR Denarius Silver- Doucet AR Denarius Bronze- Dionysos Maximianus AE Follis
I really liked Ancientnoob's denarius too, a very attractive design if it was a little less worn it could have surpassed all the other entries in my opinion.
I had a tough time deciding who to vote for, in the end I based my decision on the coins I liked best and pretty much discounted the history...though some of the beaten up coins had interesting history so I struggled with it.

Gold = Bing's Coin #2 (Lion)
Silver => maridvnvm's Coin #2 (Horse & Emperor)
Bronze => Jango's Coin #1 => (Crossing the channel)
... honourable mention to Doucet's & Echi's coins ...

Instead of perhaps the best looking coin, I am choosing based on the history surrounding the minting of the coin. So with that in mind:
GOLD: Anoobs coin#1, Hero of the Republic- Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus
SILVER: Doucet's coin #1, Hadrian's Africa
BRONZE: Dionysos' coin #1, Maximianus AE Follis
