Oh, Moe knows all too well what he is doing! He creates a stir and we all flock to the storm!
And it is Oct 3rd in Continental Europe! Iceland coming up soon. Then Greenland, and New Found Land (I prefer that spelling!) We are an INTERNATIONAL group, and time zones be dar***!
I'm such a silly fellow, But hear me out, please do! Who, 'midst the time zones we do fuss When fun times do ensue?
HEY!! I just had a great idea and I want to try it this thread (and maybe we'll continue it on follow-on "Days of..." threads)
After the thread has finished, I will source nominations for:
The BEST coin posted of this coin type,
and...
the WORST coin of this coin type posted.
And before anyone starts debating what is "Best" and what is "Worst", I say (as Thread Commandante and Generallisi-Moe) "It is whatever you choose it to be".
I envision on one thread, the Best being the prettiest toned coin and maybe the next one the PF65 one posted, etc. It's whatever the crowd decides by a vote at the end of the thread.
The Worst? I imagine the one closest to P01 grade! Now this doesn't make it bad, (as a matter of fact, I'm an enormous fan of coins that have served our national commerce system well), it's just what first comes to my mind first when I think "worst". It could be one with lots of laminations or excessive verdi-gris, etc.
It's what ever floats your boat, AND whatever (at the end) whatever EVERYONE decides!
PLEASE NOTE:
Recently damaged, scratched, gouged, or scraped ( PMD) coins are NOT encouraged and obvious damage done to ANY coin is NOT what this thread, or this Forum, is about and I will ask the Mods to delete your post if obvious PMD has been done to any coin posted!!
Don't make me be the judge of any "damaged" coin! (And if your coin is obviously damaged, no one will vote for it in the end either!!) So DON'T DO IT!!
Geepers ... what an intro to this latest "Best Of" ... 3 pages of fun and coins and stuff ... and we have not even started yet!
Given all the hooploa going on here ... I probably should have taken the time to photograph all of my V-nickels ... but work has gotten in the way ... so I'll share but a few examples.
None of which BTW will be contenders for "Best" or "Worst".
The anticipation to get this baby started is building by the post.
Or hand them out to the kids that I meet at coin shows. Understood. These kids look at the nickels and say, "How old!" And their parents say, "Yes. Older than we are!" And each and every YN says "Thank You." That makes it all worthwhile.
Moe, The BCCS - Barber Coin Collector's Journal A quarterly publication. We also maintain a website with lots of links to information. While we would just love to entice folks to join our group, at $15 a year, we pretty much just share the knowledge that we have gained. Otherwise, why would have I just made my THIRD trip to Manchester, New Hampshire to staff our table? Our "sales pitch" is: "If we save you from a costly mistake, well, that more than makes up for the dues you paid! And since the CCF shares our philosophy, well, I think that we should combine our efforts in some way. A mutual admiration society, as it were. There MUST be other groups who specialize in a given series, and all should give consideration to the need to merge the old school "print" groups with the new school, "Internet" groups.
At the bottom of all of my posts, in my signature, I have placed a link to our site. Please give us a look-see. No obligation.
