Had to look long and hard to find anything for this smackdown, only just occurred to me how few coins show the ancients architecture.

Smackdown-XVIII,-Architecture

First Posting.
Sauromates I, 93-123 AD. Kingdom of the Bosporus (in the Crimea at the north side of the Black Sea)
24 mm. 6.285 grams.
Rare. Fortress wall gate (city gate) with captive kneeling to right, tree branches above
MH = 48, the denomination, below.
Frolova XII.16, the same coin as Anokhin 461 (which are much worse than this excellent piece).
MacDonald 400/2 (which he omitted to note is bust right, not bust left like the previous coin)

Hats-off to anybody that actually managed to find something architectural, other than a pile of rocks!!

Gold => Bing's Coin #1 (Foody Goody Chinese Restaurant)

Silver => maridvnvm's Coin #2 (cool patina eye-appeal)

Bronze => bobbyhelmet's Coin #1 (Glitz-Campgate)

NOTE: honorable mention goes to chrsmat71's oven-baked and home-cleaned examples (he should receive degree of difficulty points!!)

And the votes from the Welsh jury are as follows:-

Gold - Hatra - Sauromates - An interesting type that I haven't seen before
Silver - Eddop - Carinus quinarius - not something you see every day
Bronze - DVCollector - Campgate - a really nice example of the type
