Wow, tonight we finally get to start the voting ... Man, it seems like such a long, long time ago since I entered my coins (well, I guess it has been 6 days!!) Day #1 => 11 of the 17 contestants entered their coins Day #2 => 3 of the 17 contestants entered their coins Day #3 => 2 of the 17 contestants entered their coins Day #4 => 1 of the 17 contestants entered their coins Day #5 => 0 coins entered Day #6 => 0 coins entered ... ummm hey, I realize that I'd have to win to set the rules, but I'm pretty sure that most people would agree that we can probably tighten-up the "span" of these SMACKDOWN competitions a bit, yes? => example => maybe 3 days to enter your coins, followed by a day or two of voting? NOTE => holy smokes Hatra, what I'm saying is 100% "not" a shot directed at you, or the way that you're running this current SMACKDOWN ... I'm merely making an observation that the whole hoopla and fun/momentum of these competitions is lost a bit if they drag-on a bit too long ... I'm just sayin' Regardless => yeeeehhaaaaaa, we get to start the voting tonight!! (good luck everybody ... even you, Bing!!)

Hatra, your Samaria coin from the 4th century B.C. could you post the Rev. of that coin, also what's the size and weight, where would one get of these and are they pricy, I looked around and couldn't find one. Thanks John..

Dear Eng5858,
I have the reverse picture somewhere but so far have not found it. The coin is .64 grams and is very small. The reference is Ya'akov Meshorer and Shraga Qedar's Samarian Coinage. It is fair to say they are rare and a good one with everything clear will set you back quite a bit when you find one. The other side, by the way, has the enthroned deity with the same initials but sitting on a throne. Dealers who sell ancient Jewish coins like Bill Rosenblum and Herakles are most likely to have them.

Wow, I had a very difficult time trying to narrow-down my top half-a-dozen favourites ... but after much thought and much flip-flopping, I came-up with the following podium-coins:
Gold => Dionysos' Coin #1 (Batman's => Alex with horn)
Silver => DVC's Coin #2 (loved the Poseidon with dolphin trident)
Bronze => augustus1's Coin #1 (loved the style of this Tet)
... but geeesh, Eddop's Coin #2, maridvnvm's Coin #2, and Bing's Coin #2 (Venus die-crack) could have easily been standing somewhere on the podium as well
=> fantastic bunch of coins!! (good effort 'everybody')

It was a good topic with many beautiful entries. GOLD Dionysos #2 Aphrodite because she is not so commonly seen SILVER DVCollector Poseidon, with head on one side and his symbol, the trident, on the other BRONZE Dionysos #1 but not because of the deified Alexander on the obverse, rather the excellent Athena on the reverse -- Warren
