My dad found this in his change today, gave it to me. 1967 Bobcat quarter in great shape [sorry about the quality of the pics, I don't have a proper camera. There's not any tarnish on it really, it's in great shape. I don't think it's been cleaned because the features are still quite sharp and someone doing so wouldn't be likely to put their investment back into circulation.

Oddly enough, the last two silvers I got were US dimes.

It's also funny how despite not thinking I've found many, I seem to have rolls and rolls of silver from change.

Nice potato. Lol. Congrats on the silver find. Keep it up and invest in a camera so we can revel in your finds with you.

Now, just to through a monkey wrench into this:
try and see if your coin is magnetic....
Yes, magnetic.
there are a few know which are made of nickel.
RCM experimented and a few found their way out the back door.
if it is magnetic, it is worth some serious pennies! somewhere around 400,000 pennies
ok, everybody go and check!

First I ever heard of it and I've been collecting Canadian coins for close to 40 years.

They are around....I think one was on ebay for sale a little while ago.

You can test with a magnet, but for typical circulated coins the difference between the nickel and silver is pretty easy to spot. The silver is much more of a white colour. The nickel can take on the look of silver if it is badly worn or stained and prooflike or very high grade silver can look like a little like nickel.

Pretty sure SPP-Ottawa posted a photo of a nickel 1967 quarter in an error thread, maybe 4-5 months or so ago. I'll try to find it.

Edit - couldn't find it. If I remember correctly, the thread title wouldn't necessarily lead you to think there was a nickel 1967 quarter photo in it.

Joe at J & M had one 4 sale a few months back.
tried to bargain with him. As I said tried.
he stuck to his asking price. of 4,500.
when I finally decided to go for it, it was gone.
call him, he might still have it, hust in his personal safe.

Even the nickel version is difficult to find.
Two days ago I found a solid roll of uncirculated ones.

Thanks middross, that is the one. You know, I think I searched both "bobcat" and "cougar" but failed to search for "lynx".

Actually that's just someone's mistake, it really is a bobcat:
