Are those single coins on top? Or are those stacked? If they are stacked then that it is THE box I've been imagining. Lol

SBug - I honestly didn't check. I just presumed that Pelican cases were made in China, since just about everything seems to be these days. Upon checking (like I should have in the first place), I'm amazed to find that they're actually American-made. So - I once again stand corrected & there goes that "poetic propriety" out the proverbial window!

colu41: coins are in a lighthouse tray, trays are stacked. if you want to stack coins, better put them in tubes first. the case shown in photo can easily hold 40 SML tubes, which is 1000 oz. you may want to consider wheeled cases  . Fat Freddy: US military uses pelican case too, check out their storm cases, very good quality. |

SB - My son is a soon-to-be-retiring Navy Senior Chief with Seals tours behind him, so I'm familiar with some of the cases they use. That's why my photo eq is stored in Pelican cases.
By using Airtites & Lighthouse trays in a Pelican case, you give your Pandas far more dignified storage than I give my Ag Eagles, Maples, Phils & Libertads. Mine get stacked in mint tubes & summarily dumped into military surplus ammo cans.
Your clearly superior quality storage makes curious - are those Pandas Ag or Au?

SB - The class of your storage system eclipses my storage scheme and part of your collection also particularly rings my chimes - I've always wanted to do a complete set of those costly Britannias. Now I'll have to go study the Brit prices in APMEX for a couple hours to get that urge back into its closet... |

SilverBug, can you tell me what the size of the cells in those trays that hold britannias, maples, and kookas. I'm about to order some trays with the case so need to find out what to order.

Wow. I like that setup you have and all the coins as well. Got me thinking about those trays, except I don't see any in black. Can't imagine my silver with a red or blue background, after looking at your pictures.

I to use a pelican case that can be locked, there waterproof. I also have a safe which is best for water/fire/security. But it's all personal preference to what you like and how often you look at your coins.

FWIW, I toured the Pelican factory a few years back, nice place, great products...I still use their cases for important items. Bullion sounds like a great fit for their cases....humm.

It's everyone own preference when come to storing coins.
Here's my method of storing: I pick out a few best looking coins from the tube to store them this way for easy access/view/trading - this also work for 2oz coins/round too:
(Note I don't have huge amount of BU bullion - I have some in tubes as they are the same date/design)
1) I put them in high quality flip (the kind that PCGS give to their coin submitters), either one on each side of the flip or just one coin per flip. Note: This is not airtite but they only worth slight premium. However, if you prefer, you can put your coin in airtite then into the flip.
2) I put those flip contain coins into the standard PCGS slab holder box (standing them up); for each slab-slot, I can fit up to two coins == 40 coins per box. They don't move around a lot.
How much is the cost: FREE or close to FREE - You need to have some large coin show nearby (Especially one with PCGS offering same day service. I realized this a few year back.
1) Go to the coin show on the last day, close to the final hour (the last 2hrs of the show or so), as the dealers cleaning up, they will give away extra boxes, which they can't/don't want to carry back OR they will sell them to you for a few buck/ea.
2) You can also get some plastic flip from PCGS table (asking nicely, best if you are a member and submitting coins).
I do realize that not everyone have a large coin show nearby. The concept is using those standard slab-holder box, you can put your bullion coin in them. They are rigid, sturdy/strong, sizable to carry compare to larger storage. The disadvantage is that you can't see the coins right away as with the tray. The key is the coin (with or without airtite) must be inside the plastic flip so that they don't roll around/slide since the flip and the slab-slot groove will hold them in place.
Another approach: I found a used Dansco Album for silver round (no label on the pages) and that seemed to work out fine for my common round/coins. I haven't tried putting high value bullion such as Lunar/Panda/Britania in yet though.
