The post office I went to still had all 5 left when I got mine. If I had more cash I would have got them all.

The quality of these coins is absolute rubbish. I think these are more of a laughing stock than a winner. They look like they have been kicked around the mint floor before they were packaged

Quote: I have been in the Perth area for some little while now, normally I am a Sydneysider. If I was back home just now, the local Seven Hills - Toongabbie RSL is just 10 minutes walk from home, and I would be silly enough to stump up the $10 to buy one of the 10 million mintage.
Interesting, because I haven't been a strongly active collector of Australian coins for about 20 years now; I am into ancients, World coins and anything unusual.
So I have to ask a question: Can these be obtained from the local Post Office? Sel, there are 3 different versions of the coin. The first variety is a previously unannounced non-coloured version (which was not listed in any of the Determinations), which will now be the general circulating commemorative, and has a minimum mintage of 5 million. The second variety is the coloured version, and in contrast to the initial Determination (and despite descriptions of it being a circulation coin) will not circulate. Instead it is being distributed as a collectible with a donation of $10 to the RSL. Mintage on this version is 500,000. I'm left wondering whether RAM encountered issues during production of what was intended to be their first circulating coloured coin, capped production, proceeded with a non-coloured design as a backup, and chose to distribute solely via RSL instead of a genuine "circulation" release. The third version is the "C" mintmark variety, which is being released by RAM as the "official" collectable, and will have an as yet undetermined mintage based solely upon demand until it is withdrawn from sale. I note presently that it is listed as "Temporarily unavailable" on the Mint's website. The "C" mintmark version is also included in a PNC with a total issue limit of 20,000 covers. As to availability at a local Australia Post outlet, the PNC might be available if not sold out at a local branch (see previous posts), otherwise there is the AusPost website. The 500k mintage, coloured, non-mintmarked RSL version I suspect would NOT be available from an AusPost outlet.

The back of the RSL card that FNQ shows above says "circulating" finish so they must have added some more bagmarks for us collectors. Unlike other carded type coins issued by the RAM which say uncirculated.

FNQ: Thanks for the info. Actually, it is the circulation coin that I will on the lookout for. IMO, it looks better than the pad printed version, and the cost is reasonable.
I just have to go and find one! I would appreciate it, if one of us reports when they are first found in circulation.

They are on ebay from Armaguard bags. I haven't seen one in the wild yet.

I think someone said they found one in Northern New South Wales (or at least somewhere in New South Wales anyway). edit: and the Armaguard bags that purplepenny mentioned were being sold from Sydney I think.

I was dealing with $2 coins today, none came up, but there were 3 x 2012 (Unc - Ch.Unc cond), nice & shiny wit a bag mark or two. Spewing, I was looking forward to catching one.
I might have to buzz past a couple of AusPosts tomorrow & see if I can track down another. My serial was 5009/20000. Nine off being 5000, that would've been nice & would have had an additional premium. But a high serial would do just fine.
