  I acquired this 'Newark' half-crown from a Stacks-Bowers sale a couple of years ago. It has an old crack that is quite befitting I think, and quite acceptable to me because of its context as a 'siege piece'. In view of its chunky thickness (about 2mm.) I believe the flaw was in the original flan. It is slabbed though which I do not like although with so many fakes of these around it's maybe better to leave it entrapped! A nice honest little toothed border farthing 1860 lovely patina. Pretty much how it looks but a little nicer in the hand   |

2 semi key halfcrowns arrived.  A semi key 1903 Halfcrown - probably my rarest date so far, possibly cleaned and high VG example, nice and honest.  1904 a scarce but not rare date and a nice coin here, this is very high fine heading towards VF - a nice addition to the collection. That just leaves 1905!!  |

That is the first time I've ever seen that trapezoidal coin -- it reminds me of the German money called "Klippe." Also, good luck on chasing down a 1905 Half Crown. It would be a great add to your large Half Crown collection. (Go for quality!) These two little Farthings arrived today. I don't know how you would grade them, but they're in good shape, with good color, and relatively undisturbed fields. Just nice circulated coins.
