My latest purchase from The Royal Mint arrived yesterday - a £5 coin showing the Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It's part of a series of 5 showcasing the different portraits that appeared on her coins:

This 18-pence token was issued in 1811 by John B. Monck, a wealthy businessman and prominent civic figure, for use primarily in Reading and Berkshire. Mr. Monck was also responsible for a silver half-crown token, as well as a gold forty-shillings piece.
On the obverse the central device is an adaptation of the City of Reading's ancient seal, in this case featuring the crowned Queen Elizabeth (ER) surrounded by four maidens. The Latin legend translates as: "We are slipping into worse until better times return," certainly a fair characterization of the chaos and turmoil that prevailed in Britain during the last decade or two of George III's reign.
I am not aware of any other silver token that vouches for itself as this one does on its reverse by providing a statement of quality and weight. This specimen lists in Dalton as Berkshire 6, R.

A stop in Eastbourne to change trains yesterday proved expensive when I used my 45-minute break to visit the LCS and emerged with two silver crowns... 1695 William III (Septimo on edge): 1928 George V:
